Dear Families,

Miss Jessica will be running the Summer Camp at Little Flower Montessori. She is eagerly planning all the weekly and daily activities. Each summer camp week will be limited to 12 children with daily hours from 9:00 - 12:30. Each week will have a theme, and the weekly charge will be $125.00 per child. Please bring a check at the beginning of each week. Also, please have your child bring a lunch each day of summer camp. The school will provide morning snacks. It is really important that your child wear a hat and sunscreen every day. Please put the sunscreen on your child before coming to school. There will be no extended days for summer camp

Daily projects, stories and finger plays are all a part of the Summer Camp experience.

Week 1 June 14 - June 18 What Do Bugs and Worms DO All Day? We will be exploring the outdoor world of bugs and worms. We'll start off the week by building our very own red worm composting bin. Throughout the week we'll talk about all of the neat things that worms, ants, crickets, dragonflies, and walking sticks do all day like what they eat, how they communicate, how they defend themselves, and how they move. This is a friendly introduction into the lives of these very cool creatures.

Week 2 June 21 - June 25 Exploring Eric Carle's World We will be reading and creating projects with one of Eric Carle's books each day.
Monday Rooster's Off To See The World
Tuesday The Tiny Seed
Wednesday Walter The Baker
Thursday Have You Seen My Cat
Friday The Mixed-Up Chameleon

Week 3 June 28 - July 2 Farm Friends During this session, we will be learning all about some of our favorite farm animals; including pigs, cows, sheep, and horses. We'll be discussing what they eat, where they live on the farm, and what farmers do to take care of their animals. We'll be using a miniature world of animals, farm buildings, and farmers to create our very own Little Flower Montessori Farm in the classroom, which we will use to learn about a normal day on the farm. On Friday, we will end this session with a trip to a working, local farm!

Week 4 July 5 - July 9 Cooking Around The World Grab your passports! During this session, the children will be traveling around the world, experiencing foods from Italy, France, England, Mexico. We will end the week back in the United States. We'll be learning how to safely use tools like a rolling pin, a cheese grater, a butter knife, kitchen beaters, a vegetable peeler and a potato masher under close supervision to make homemade pasta, crepes, cucumber sandwiches, guacamole, salsa, and franks and beans. We'll talk about the geography and culture of each country we visit as we learn how to cook!

Week 5 July 12 - July 16 Science Works Prepare for a week full of surprises! During this session, the scientists will grow their own rock candy to learn the secrets behind growing crystals, cool off with projects that explore the relationship between liquids and solids, make their very own volcanoes, and discover how to write about their science experiments in invisible ink! We will be spending part of each day looking into the wet world of water and all of the cool things that we can do with it...bring a bathing suit!

Week 6 July 19 - July 23 Zoo Friends During this session, we will be learning about some of our favorite zoo friends. We'll be discussing what they eat, where they live when they're not visiting the zoo and what they like to do for fun. We'll be creating zoo-inspired art work, cooking zoo-themed snacks, and making zoo animal crafts.

This rounds out our six weeks of summer camp. I am anticipating a wonderful summer and know that your children will have great FUN!
